A Four Component Model of Evidence-Based AAC Service Delivery
Friday, October 19, 2007 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Providing services to persons with complex communication needs remains a challenge for many clinicians. Given the ultimate goal of providing a functional system for communication, time, and cost associated with AAC, and the staggering rates of technology abandonment, both beginning and experienced clinicians are well-served in examining their practices in this area. This session will review a four component model of service delivery, consisting of diagnostics, therapy, environment, and communication partners. Topics will support provision of person centered AAC services. Principles of evidence-based practice will be explored throughout.
